OK, So my car has currently a KCF trans with a D7 converter. I recently picked up a 86 BRF that has only had stock power behind it. It's completely stock.
Now before I continue, tight budget, OK Very tight budget. That's why I didn't pick up a fresh rebuilt. So the thought was that I'm getting the correct trans for the car (I finally have all the right parts
)and can now sell the KCF (Or thrown it out, seems no one wants it). The trans does not slip and shifts the way it should. Although I can't confirm this, I have no reason to doubt the person I got it from.
The car is slightly above stock. Stock Turbo, down pipe, No cat., Power Plate, 009's, XP pump, 4" Big mouth with LS1 and translator. I need a chip, hoping to add ALKY, that might have to wait till next year.
So my question is, what should I do to the trans, if anything? Would you recommend just new seals, any specific parts? Realize tight budget. However, I don't want to put this in and because I didn't spend a few dollars have it disintegrate and cost me a bunch or leak all over the place. Long term is to have it built. I have a rebuilt D5, stock stall. Goal is a street car with good manners. I've read so much about shift cal kits, bands, hardened parts, my head is spinning
Also, seen a few books on the 2004R, which is the best one?
Thanks,
Rich
