If I blip the throttle and let off my new TA49 sounds like it has marbles rattleing around inside. My stock turbo never sounded like this. I only have 149 miles on it and it sounds really bad. I still builds boost ok but anyone else have this sound with their TA49?

I Played with the car all day today. Now I have no idea where the noise is coming from. It may not be the turbo at all. I am going to let her cool off over night and disconnect the serpentine belt and see if it goes away, may be in the belt drive train some where.
It sure is not affecting the performance. I did some 1/8 mile runs on country roads with the Tazzo computer and the new combo I picked up 7 MPH in the 1/8th.
The Tazzo computer was within .1 and 1 mph of my time slips in the 1/8 the last time I went to the track.

I was running consistant 91- 92 MPH 1/8 miles in 88 * humid heat today.

The lag on this TA49 with the PTE housing is alot compared to my stock turbo. But I also added a PTE FMIC so it may not be all the TA49 that is causing the lag. It's like lighting a fuse, 1, 2, 3, 4, then bang your gone. I am going to try to get my new 9/11 3000 stall and PTS extreme strret/strip trans in this week. The original 133,000 mile tranny is hurting bad with all the new power.

1986 GN -133,00 miles- New oil pump, timing chain and gears + water pmp @ 133,000. TA49, MSD50's, PP, 3" ATR duals + down pipe, PTE FMIC, BeCool rad+ RAM fans. 3" Chevy MAF, ATR 14" K+N cold air, 160* stat w/RMI 25. Hot wired red Armstrong FP + adj FP Reg, Race Jace ALUM crank and water pmp pulleys. Full weight GN with Heavy stock steel wheels. Greddy boost contol. translater + extender alky chip.
I sure am glad I didn't sell this car last year.
:D :D :D

You might want to check the lower intercooler bracket, sometimes they make an anoying vibration sound if the rear mount ,where it bolts to the motor comes loose.

I would bet the noise that you are hearing is the puck rattling in the downpipe due to not enough tension on the waste gate rod. Ask me how I know.

I have heard the sound you describe with water pumps on several different applications
