Looking for some tires that have good traction, and good wear life. I still have the stock rims and almost drive this car everyday. Also, what size should I get. My last tires were some no-name brand that weren't good for anything.

THanks
Chris

you can't go wrong with BF Goodrich Radial T/A 255/50/15's on the back and 215/50/15's up front, best radial tire IMO

i'm going out tonight to get some new tires my worn out "slicks" dont' do to well on roads with any water, muchless snow and ice:eek: fun ride though! i'm just going to get some cheap tires for it, i don't know how much longer i'll have the and next season i'll get a set of et slicks for the track, so performance doesn't matter a ton to me. i was looking around a while ago, the brigestone stingers didn't look too bad, i think thats what i'll go with. there cheap too.

Would you suggest getting them in a wider size. A friend of mine had some Kumho tires on his mustang and he liked them. Any opinions about Kumho tires.

Chris

i have never ran wider than 255 on stock wheels on my car (except for my GNX wheels now...running 265/50/16's) but i have seen some run 275/60's on a stock GN wheel...i think they were drag radials...i think the 275/50's might rub...not sure...

Kumho's not a bad tire for the money, but for not much more the radial t/a is a better riding, longer lasting choice.

i have 235/60/r15's right now. i'd like to go a bit wider so i've been looking for 235/55-50 am i moving around the right numbers? i thought the 2nd 2 numbers is width and the first 3 numbers are height. am i wrong? and what do the numbers mean?

also how wide can i go on the stock t-type wheels?

the first set of numbers is the measurement i think in milimeters wide...the second set is a ratio derived height...and of course the last set is the size in inches for the wheel you are putting them on...

The first # is the width in millimeters sidewall-to-sidewall. The second # is the aspect ratio (determined by dividing a tire's height by its width).

On a stock 7" wide T rim, you can install a 295/50/15's but you must use 2 air bags to keep the tires from rubbing.

I run the 295/50's on 7" reversed Cragar SST's with 3 1/2" back spacing. Tire pressure at 25 lbs. and airbags at 15-22 lbs. with a stack of 3 spacers under each bag. 215/65's in front on the same rims with stock springs.

Okay, thanks for the replys. I will check out the BFG TA tires. How well do they do with hooking up. I know since its a street tire that it won't do that well, but I am hopeiing for something with a little more traction then what I have.

Thanks
Chris

Well i say bf goodrich are the best especially for the money iam running 275/50/15's drag radials in the rear with prostars and i had to invest in some wheel spacers and i might have to bend up the lip on the quarter, but IMO go with the bf goodrich's
