73% survival rate......... (on record) not bad........

No, that is not quite what that means.

There was no complete record of VIN of the cars converted to '82 GN. There was a partial list from Cars and Concepts. Between that list and '82 GNs that have been located, there is record of 73% of the VINs. Some of those are already scrapped and many others are MIA.

Tear down continues along with good organization of the usable parts

Didn’t get much done today to the car however I did finally go up to Virginia and pick up the parts car. I have the drivers door in the back of my Tahoe. Haven’t gotten the carpet out yet as I just got home a few minutes ago but just taking a quick look the floor looked decent but will find out for sure once I remove the carpet. Also has perfect metal on the firewall to fix mine.

Maybe the donor car would be easier to restore than the one you're working on now?

You’re probably right but it’s not a 82 GN so I have no feelings cutting out it’s good metal to fix mine and also help other folks with it too. I also got the replacement t top header in the mail yesterday from gbodyparts to fix the rust

Quite literally she is a basket case. Original engine and trans long gone, interior is pretty much all there but needs to be redone. Unfortunately I think the grass seed that was in it probably helped contribute to the floor pan rust. The car is solid other than some rust in the floor and some in the t bar. It also has rust around the drain above the wiper motor on the cowl so i will have to get a firewall to make patch panels from. My ultimate plan for this is to restore stock looking but seeing as how the original engine and trans is gone it needs a upgrade so I’m thinking 86-87 GN engine and trans. I’m currently cleaning it up before I put it in the garage. Also pretty much gutting the interior

Wow, nice find (for the rarity, probably not for the condition?)
Good luck with the whole project, hopefully the donor car is a big help.

Gutting the parts car and picked up a mini 82

Thanks! Yeah I think the donor will be a big help as I’m going to be using quite a bit of parts off of it but also going to sell quite a bit of stuff off of it that I won’t be using

Best of luck with the resto. I have an 83 T-Type that will be taking up a few years worth of weekends. Looking forward to your progress for inspiration.

I like that paint scheme and the gta wheels look good with it!

I see most of the thread is gone unfortunately due to the site crashing. I just got the engine yesterday for the car a complete 4.1, transmission, computer and many other parts.

Regarding the " Grass Seed " part : Grass Doctor MUST reply to this thread !

Finally feeling better enough to get back to work on this car (crohns disease sucks). Going to continue the tear down tomorrow want to blow all the trash off the intake so it doesn’t fall down in the motor. I can tell someone’s been into judging by the wrong hardware in places. The distributor hold down clamp someone made is real nice lol. Interested to see what’s inside of it.
