Hi, new to all the new tuning and actually just getting started. Im looking to purchase a scan tool within the next two weeks or so and Im interested in costeffectiveness, reliability, and of course budget rationale. I saw a turbo link for sale for 145 and the scanmaster of course listed for 245 but of course the turbolink you have to use a laptop? Also, if I was to go the turbolink or directscan route where can I find the cheapest, and I mean the cheapest laptop computer? Which actually is better and more user friendly? I like the circumstances of the turbo link b/c I am a visual guy and get more information in that regard with pictures than scanmaster. yet it seems as if everyone just about uses the scanmaster? Can you tell Im confused yet:D ? Someone chime in and help me out here.
Thanks
Steve Chambers

I would get the scanmaster to keep in the car, and then if you want you can do t-link or directscan for tuning/troubleshooting if you have a problem or anything. If you're only going to do one of them, I'd suggest getting the scanmaster.
Then again, it all depends on what you want to do with your car.

like dan k said, get the scanmaster first. its a great tool cause you can put it right on the dash in front of you and see it all the time. i have directscan too and its a great tool but not too safe on the street looking down at your laptop when driving. i know for directscan you could pick up a laptop for probably a 100 bucks or less.:D
