Picked up a new toy tonight - 1989 GTA WS6 Trans Am with the 350 TPI. Car is white with tan leather. Seats are well worn, paint is shot, and the car is running rich, but the body looks pretty solid. Also has the digital dash (I'd rather have the analog gauges). Car has 136k on it, seems to run ok. Tires are shot.

Had the seller trailer it to my house for $1000. He was getting ready to part it out as he had no luck selling it, or couldn't find the right buyer. Not sure if I made a decent deal or not, but I think I did ok. The prices on 3rd gen's have gone down since I've last looked at them. There's a lot of car here for $1000, plus I've always liked them.

I have a pretty good size pole barn I plan to park it in for maybe a few years until I get the GN painted (maybe this winter?). After that, I'd like to create a TTA clone out of it, what do you guys think? May even take a stab at painting it myself (wouldn't even think about doing that to the GN, as I hear black is a bear to paint, but white isn't that bad).

Are there any physical differences between the TTA's and the white GTA's, other than the decals and emblems? I know none of the TTA's had digital dashes, but this would be an occassional driver.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

As far as differences brakes and rear are a couple I can think of. I bought an 89 a few years back and was going to do the same thing. I bought mine sight unseen and was way more rusted than told. After sourcing TTA specific parts you might just be better off finding a real TTA to fix up. After all the work it will only be a clone. Good Luck with it they are nice cars and if you need any parts I have some still lying around from that car.:)

Will try to post pics tonight or tomorrow. Current format is too large to post, and I can't get to photobucket type sites at work!

Pics

Here's some pics - they aren't the greatest quality now since I had to compress them from a 10M camera. :)

That thing has transplant written all over it. Oh yeah, those wheels look like crap on that car.I'll take them off your hands.

looks good to me :) , always liked the gta's very nice find. thanks for the pics, now go and enjoy  :D

Tranny crossmember is different (I think it is TTA specific). I'm almost positive the front sway bar, struts and springs were different since the 350 weighs more than a 3.8L.
