new VDO pegged at 250+ cold engine????

I'm working up to getting this thing fired for the first time. So after wiring new oil pressure and coolant temp sensors I fed power to them, Oil went to 0. water pagged at 250+. The wiring looks good even for me( I think)
Both these units are new. Any ideas? or will this comback down after starting?

Make sure the guage has a good ground. If I remember right, when the grounds aren't good the oil pressure will get lower and temp will get higher. Also, make sure the sending unit wire isn't touching ground anywhere.

Thanks, thats good info! I haven't run across that info. sorry to sat that might be the least of my problems right now. I will pull it and remove the slight amount of ARP thread sealant and check it after I get my other wiring problem fixed, Which I am going to move to the main group. seems I am blowing fuel pump fuses and I do not even have the hotwire harness pluged in????
Maybe you can check in there.
