I'm really on the fence about organ donation, now....

Both my wife and I are currently donors, but recently my sister (picture of health and only 54) unexpectedly had a stroke and then a pulmonary embolism that left her brain dead. She had made it very clear to everyone that she never wanted to be kept alive on a ventilator/heart machine. However, she had signed on her DL to be an organ donor. Because of this, the hospital could choose to keep her on support for 14 days against hers and family wishes to harvest her organs. It was very heart wrenching and not an ordeal I would want to go through again with a loved one. I think when we sign up for organ donation we are thinking, car accident, heart attack, etc. with immediate death, take my stuff and let my body/soul be. But to be kept artifically alive for weeks to harvest organs, to me, is hard to deal with.

As for the story, certainly borderline infringement on personal liberties. At least they give you the option to OPT out.

Maybe next it will be mandatory. Not much of a leap from there. Such stupid laws coming out of low life politicians mouths these days.

Wow, another bill that is unconstitutional, how far away is November again?
