I just picked up an 87 Turbo T today, and the car has some modifications already done to it. The previous owner bought the car, and it was sitting for a few years, with maybe 300 miles driven. He said that the owner before him upgraded the car, but he isn't too sure of everything exactly.
Car seems to idle nice, and pulls pretty hard for 10 PSI of boost.
I had my friend take a look at the car, he owns a TTA, to make sure i was getting a good deal. He said the car has for modifications:
Duttweiler neck on intercooler
old school ATR cold air box behind front bumper
Hooker Super comp headers
009 injectors
Accell yellow wires
bleeder valve
oil cooler in front of radiator
Rebuilt tranny that shifts firm
coolant bypass
The previous owner said fuel pump is upgraded
The turbo has a TA inlet bell, and stock turbo shield, I am not sure what size the turbo is, is there any easy way to tell?
My friend told me the hooker headers have a bad wrap for slow spoolup, and that it can trigger codes, the SES light comes and goes off. Would it be worth it to switch back to stock headers?
What would be reccomended modifications that I do to my new T to make it quicker? I am thinking a scan tool, AFPR, dump pipe, and a newer chip to at least get it running right.
Any suggestions appreciated.
