Hey guys and gals!! I've been a lurker for awhile and spent most of my time in the classifieds but I'd like to stop by and say hi. My car is a 81 Malibu with a 357SBC. It's a pump gas N/A motor with a stock bottom end and heads that has seen a 13.76@103.3mph. I plan on improving on that this coming Tuesday. I have bought a set of M/T drag radials and I'm hoping to see some low 13's. Now to why I'm here, I plan on picking up a non-turbo 109 block off of a member here this Saturday at the big GN meet in Chi-town. I already have another 350 4bolt block and a Gen.V 454 4 bolt block but the 3.8 turbo engine has always caught my attention. I'm not sure what I'm going to put the engine in, but I want to see some 10 second passes out it. I do know that it will be going in a G-Body. I know this has been asked a million times, but what does it take to get in the 10's on pump gas with a turbo 3.8 engine? I want to get started on the engine build hopefully next summer. Later on, Nick.

Good luck piecing a motor together. It costs a lot of money for simple parts. A wiring harness is $500. These things have larger fuel lines than your average g body. Intake will run you $250-500. Headers can be had for cheap $350-1000. Fuel pump(s) $100-500. Point is, the block is the cheap part. Its much cheaper to buy a "intake to oil pan" motor someone just finished building and they can't afford it. Just to convert a "hot air" (84-85 gn) to a cold air car (86-87) cost about $1500.

For a stock GN in good shape to hit high 10s, you'll need injectors and matching chip, intake and exhaust, good sized turbo, good intercooler, torque converter, good fuel pump hotwired, sticky tires, scanning software to monitor the motor (otherwise you're flying blind and will be driving over the crank in no time), slicks and alcohol injection.

If you want to do 10s on pump gas without alcohol, plan on spending about $15,000 to 20,000 on a stage 2 motor.
