nick in crank... can it be welded and fixed?

I'd like to know if I tig weld the journal up... then turn it .010/.010 would it be ok? The crank is std/std now.

Imo

Looks like it needs polishing and as long as the nick is not sticking UP I would not hesitate to use it. Just be an oil pocket. Think about it what could it possibly hurt as long as it does not protrude outward and eat into the bearing. Forget about welding it!!!
 
the nick in the pic above is the deepest one.... there are more..... the rest are not quite as deep.....but seem a little uglier....

Just have it turnet .010/.010 and call it a day. That won't affect the strength at all.
 
I have a stock crank turned .020/.020 in mine. Last time I went to the dyno it made 580 rwhp. I'm certain I'm over 600 rwhp now that I've upped the boost 5 more psi.
