Can anyone host or suggest a free place with linking ability to host pics. of the new Nittos on the car.

I have a few pics. to post if anyone wants them. :)

What is the PSI you are running in the tires?

For some reason my 275/50/15 Look ALOT wider. Then again it could be because I run 23psi in them. (No Rubbing)

I run 28psi in them and even the 50 series on the street.

They have to last 10-12K miles for me. ;)

They stick well enough to do that pumped up.

Could be my camera angles too, I ain't no pro. :D

Are you hitting the fender trim at all???
I really messed up a set of M&Hs that way.
My car is lowered and I dont think these will
work.

the 50'slook wider cause they are. i think they are almost 2" wider than the 60's but i'd rather have the height and exrta sidewall and rpm through the traps.

Dan I did tell the old man to put them on the inside.

His kid did the work and put them on the outside.

They will look like crap in a couple of years anyway so I don't let that stuff bother me on $90 wheels. ;)

If I had a show car there'd be lots of dead people in CT. :D

60 series are actually 11.0"

50 series are actually 10.5"

I could be off a bit there.

That would be same wheels and backspacing and same 28psi. in them.

50 series were off the car however. :)

Yes the sidewalls hit the lip of the molding.

I just pumped up the drivers side airbag to 10 psi. on the nose.

Passenger side is at this poundage and has never hit yet.

Wait'll you see my second stage alky. setup pic. I will post tomorrow. ;)

5psi. in the drivers airbag.

They hit often.

10psi. in the passengers side hasn't hit yet.
Whew! Those wheel wells are FULL!
It seems a much tighter fit than pics I've seen of BFG 275-60/15.

Is your car at stock ride height?

I don't understand how that could be possible? With the bead to bead width being the same the only difference is the aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is a percentage of the bead to bead width which represents the sidewall height. So with a higher aspect then logically the tread width has to be less.

Example:
Via Jegs catalog

BFG Drag Radial
275/60/15 = 8.8" tread
275/50/15 = 10.0" tread

Hold on, were you measuring tread width or sidewall width?

salvage your wrong. the 50's have a larger foot print. go to any tire size calculator and you will see.

Salvage is measuring the actual width of the tire and not the width of the tread. The tread on a 50 series 275 is more than an inch wider than the 60 series tire as was pointed out.

Nitto says their 275/50 is 11.18" wide at the bulge on an 8.5 inch rim, while their 275/60 is 11.10" wide on a 8.0" rim.

On the same size rim, the nitto 60 may be slightly wider, but they will both be very close.

The BFG 275/50 measures 11.3" wide on an 8.5" rim so its slightly wider than the nitto 50 on the same size rim. The BFG 275/60 is the same width as the Nitto 275/60.

The solution to salvage's problem is to roll the fenderwells or get some new rims.

I was measuring overall width because we were talking about fitting them in the fender wells. :)

Tread width will vary due to aspect ratio as stated.

Here's a Nitto link that has overall widths, prolly more accurate than what I measured. ;)

The car has Bilsteins, boxed stock control arms with good bushings, and Moog cargo coils from Kirbans that are about 7-8 years old now.

Haven't measured any heights on it.

Oh and airbags too with 5 psi. in them when the pic. was taken.

They now have 10 psi. on both sides and no rubbing on the way to work today. :)

But my back hurts from the ride. :(

They stay on the car until I go racing in 2 weeks.

Then the 50's go back on. Then the snow tires. :)

If you only drive to the track and shows it will work fine with airbags.

I ain't rolling the lips until the molding rots off.

Salvage, could you do me a favor and take some pics from maybe 10ft. away at an angle? I am seriously considering purchasing the Nitto 275/60's but I did not know they weren't as wide as the 50's. I would like to see them from a distance to help me decide before I drop $300 on tires! :)

BTW I run 26in x 12.5in. MT sportsman pros now.

Hey Mr. T how's the gold business. ;)

No pics. until monday or tuesday.

Shifter cable broke on me at a gas station 30 miles from home and was stuck in 2nd gear.

Had 1st and 2nd gear the whole ride back. :(

Anyway I did some measureing of tread width on the Nittos.

I came away with the 60 series being less than an inch narrower than the 50 series.

Could someone post what they get as a number for contact patch tread width on their 50 series Nittos on an 8" rim?

Just want to be sure of my numbers. :)

Don't know a thing about BFG tires but I did see the 60's are 1.2" less tread width than the 50's.

Actually the aspect ratio is more for a height measurement and not much to do with tread width. ;)

salvage,
It is shocking and disturbing to see salvagev6 that clean. Dare I say it looks shiny? :p :D

You're going racing in 2 weeks? Going to the BOP shootout at LVD? If so, I'll be there with the infamous Dyno Day-saving coil pack :)

Steve

Ah that would be the Red Regal T, Junkyard approved, fully Casper tested, dyno. day saving coil pack. :)

Kinda miss it not sitting on my shelf in the shed.

Race day is Oct. 11th friday track rental not the BOP.

Is the BOP the 5th or 6th?

PS: Yeah I ran the car through the car wash twice this year. :)
POR15 on all the gaping rust holes too. Looks pretty good actually. :D

PPS: No rubbing excepting one really bad stretch of torn up road and it bumped once at 10psi. in both airbags.

Gonna try 12 psi. in each and leave that for a while, that is once the shifter cable is replaced..... :(
