I like the GNX clone idea. Don't want to cut a hole in the fender. Wish there was a GNX vent that did not require cutting so I could go back to stock if I wanted.

I don't see you would have to cut the fender if you didn't want to-it will let some of the heat out under the hood, I don't see why you couldn't just put them on with double stick tape if you wanted to.

The vents are not flat. They fit into the fender. I'm sure if I was eager enough I could just cut the back an mold on a flat piece. I know many O people have dealt with the final decision of cutting a hole in the fender. The Buick "portals" have kind of become popular with the "rice/boy racer" crowd. Some of the newer Buicks have the retro style portals. And you may or may not have seen the stick on portals. I am thinking of the same thing......just in GNX form. Have seen them painted on also. Not my cup of tea.

I just ordered a set-we re going to put them on my friends 40K mile gn, we re considering putting the louvers on a belt sander to make them completely flat before we double stick tape them on-I ll take some pics when we re finished.

After looking at the vents there doesn't appear a way to make them flat without destoying the vents air entry area. We will be cutting the holes needed.

Why? Because of all of the gaudy vehicles sporting Autozone stick-on simulated fender vents cruising around Everytown USA. Buicks have had functional fender vents for a LONG time and continue to implement them on their vehicles today. Personally I think its shameful to put an 'all show' cheap replica of an item on a car whos maker is known for the real thing. Whats next?.....fake intercoolers for pre 86 models? Of course this is just my 'old school' humble opinion.

Wow. I just don't want to cut a hole in my "old school" fenders. Not trying to change the face of Turbo Buicks. Asking for a product that looks like the original. The vents on original GNXs are more for the looks. Yes, they extract some heat. Not enough to justify doing an non reversible modification. If I want a cooler engine compartment I would get an aluminum radiator and some exhaust wrap. The original GNX flares are retro fitted onto the car and not really designed to extract heat. I know I will get some flack from the GNX community. I am not trying to clone a GNX. Trying to customize my car. Which is why car people are car people everyone has there own taste. I hate lowriders but they generate interest in cars.....and there still car people and have much talent. Just not my taste.....but I don't rag on them. Fiberglass parts are easy to produce. If they make this part......it will save a lot of fenders. Years from now, parts will become hard to find. Have seen it happen again again and again. Just look at the folks that hacked up wheel wells to fit there slicks. This was before tubbing was popular. I see all those cars turned in to race only cars cause it would cost to much money to repair the hacked up fender well. Not saying this will change the word.......just using this forum for what it is designed for. "Product request" Nuff said. I'm gonna work on my GN. Peace out.
