I dont know if this may have been discussed in any other threads but I hadnt seen any. I was looking at a TR that has some minor upgrades to it (43 lb injectors, TE55 Turbo, Kenne Bell cold air Kit, maybe a few others) but it doesnt have any type of scan tool or ecm. A buddy of mine has a scanmaster in his TR. I guess what i need to know is first off with those minor upgrades should i need to use a tool to upgrade the timing and such? Second, would i be able to hookup my friends scanmaster to my car to make the adjustments then return it? I dont plan on doing to many other upgrades you guys think it would be necessary or how beneficial to get a scanmaster for myself. Thanks for any input guys.

Absolutely Mandatory to have a scan tool for these cars. Yes, you can throw your friend's SM on there to check things out but a Scantool is INVALUABLE to have, both to diagnose problems, and just as, perhaps more importantly, to MONITOR for conditions that could spell HUGE trouble... (lean condition, for example). Absolutely, positively, the FIRST money that should be spent by a new owner of these cars..... Can be had used, reasonably too...

Yes get a scanmaster as Brian said above, you will need it to monitor engine parameters. Also find out what chip is in the car, if it is an older chip get rid of it and order a modern chip, todays chips are WAY better than the old ones!
