I changed my head gaskets, timing chain to a double roller, push rods (had to go adjustable), and got my turbo rebuilt. I took the oil pump apart just to check to make sure it looked alright and put it back with new gaskets. I tried to prime it with a drill and really had no luck. So yesterday I went to crank for psi and again had no luck I took the oil feed line off and waited to see if oil would came out and nothing I cranked for about 30 seconds. I also packed the pump with vasoiline before I primed with drill. Now the thing is the car won't start I have spark and fuel I was thinking that the oil psi safety was causing somthing not to work because I can't get no oil psi. I also took off the oil filter and tried to crank to see if oil would come out. I'am thinking of getting a new oil pump and try priming it with a drill again. I really don't think that the the oil safety is casuing the no start. Right now I have it all back apart so I'am going to replace the pump and go from there. Any help is greatful.

Thanks,Dave

I'am positive it was set right but now that it's apart I will reset it after the pump is in. How can you tell when your ECM is bad?

Do a search in gnttype.org on ecm's. There is a common ecm number that came in alot of fwd cars. Just get the part # and call your local yard for one. Switch both chips and you will have another ecm. That is the only way I know of testing yours. Also make sure all power and grounds are supplied to the ecm. One time after I pulled my motor it would run real bad. I checked for power and grounds and found that I forgot to tighten the main ground on the engine bracket.

are you positive the crank sensor is in the notch? when i changed out my timing chain and cover to a HV one, i though i had the sensor in right. no start...blah blah blah...you'll have to turn the crank w/a breaker bar to something and feel for it getting into the notch.

Indulge me a little. You sure you have spark and fuel? How did you check? I assume the Cam sensor was removed, did you install in and/or set it correctly?

I had similar problems.

Well I know my grounds are all good. I know I have fuel because my pluge are soaked (and I'am getting 40psi at the rail), and spark I just pulled a plug and put a wire on it and turned over. I have the cam sensor tool so I know it is set right. Well I put the front cover on today and I have to fab up a oil pump primer at work tonight. If I can get oil pressure I will start putting everything back together and hope she fires up. As far as the crank sensor I couldn't tell you if it was the right way or not when I took it off the car I didn't pay attention. I really don't think it's my ECM I'am just weighing my options. Any ideas let me know I will keep you posted if I bust ass tommrrow I may have her back together.

Thanks,Dave

I wouldn't attempt to start the car until you get oil pressure with the drill. The drill most likely spins the oil pump as fast as it will be spinning at idle so if it doesn't get pressure with the drill, it's not going to once it's started.

For the no start, if you're getting spark and fuel, you can pretty much rule out crank sensor. The only other things I can think of is the cam is installed wrong, cam sensor is off, wrong ECM (not likely). Does it seem like it has good compression? Does it try to start at all, any signs of life like a pop or backfire?

No signs of popping at all. How can the cam be installed wrong? I made sure the dots where lined up. I didn't do a compression check thats one of the first things I'am going to do when I get oil pressure. It's aslo a possibility that the cam sensor is installed wrong but I put the window and the cap where in the correct position. I have to worry about the oil pressure first. This car pisses me off.

Thanks, Dave

Well I got oil psi So I started putting everything back together and the crank sensor is on right. So when I get home from work I 'am going to put the turbo on and see if she will fire up let you know what happens.
