We just bought a new Turbonetics turbo for our '87 T. This turbo does not have provision to mount to the stock turbo bracket.
What problems will develop if we run the car this way? With the only solid mounting point for the turbo being the exhaust manifold, with the manifold eventually crack?
We plan to install the turbo bracket to allow us to mount the turbo shield, but there does not appear to be any simple way to secure the turbo to it.

Thanks,
Rick

Are youi talking about the brace to the turbo mounting flange or the bracket that the turbo shield mounts to ?

The turbo is a CPT-60. This turbo does not have the stand-offs with the studs that bolt thru the factory turbo bracket. The turbo bracket I am referring to is the same one that the shield attaches to.

You'll be fine without that bracket as far as the Turbo "support" is concerned. If you want to mount your turbo shield, make a bracket up that bolts to the two bolt holes on the front of the passeger side head and fab it to bolt your shield onto. Got the idea from Cal Hartline. He did that with his. I'm going to do the same.

Hope this helps !
