Have just received my second month's elec bill, since the new a/c/heat pump install...90+* for the last 2 months...Bill is avg $77.00. All electric house.
Shop is cheap, too! A/c, compressor, lites, $29 avg last 2 mo's!..
Both bldgs are SUPER well insulated.. Sure pays off...

Life's GOOD!:D:D

Chuck,

What kind and how much insulation in the garage??????

Ronnie, the shop is 30x30, w/ 12' ceilings. The exterior is osb sheathing, Tyvek, and vinyl siding. The walls are done w/ roll R-12, and then covered w/ particle board. The ceiling has 12" roll f'glas in it, and is also particle board.
The a/c/heat is a 3 ton heat pump unit hung off the ceiling.
I'm really pleased w/ the performance of both units.
1 major improvement I made in the shop, was to glue 1" styrofoam insul board, [alum faced], in all the ohd sections. [Shop has 2-10x10 doors, 2 windows w/ bars, 1 manway door.] I used a ir gun and found that the ohd temps were 105* out, and nearly 100* in. Since I added the insul, the interior temps are 25* less than ext. A big heat gain/loss reduction, for not much $$.
