I am installing a used universal alky kit from SMC in my 88 Mustang (I know,I know) , and I need advice from the experts. The car has a built motor and I run a Vortech S-trim centrifugal blower pullied for 15psi. There is no intercooler and my discharge temps are pretty high. I am assuming that the spray nozzle should be as close to the discharge and as far away from the throttle as possible to maximize the time the alky has to absorb the heat. Am I right in this assumption ? Also what is the better position for the nozzle, the top or bottom of the discharge pipe?

I have mine about 6 inches from the tb, this is where most buick guys run ours. I would contact a vender on here and ask for your app. I know on my buddies 302 set up the pipe from the blower to the tb is short and "S" shaped and dosent have 6 inches.

On the Vortech stuff on 5.0's I do two nozzles. One at the SC and the other the TB. Its 18 inches apart.

no to highjack the thread but would a single nozzle on a TB on the plenum be a good or bad idea. Is there any downside to having it after the TB because of the IAC. Let's say mounting it on the back of the plenum to look uniform.

Its another 80-100 in expense plus you now modify something on the car that can no longer be returned to original.

IAC is not an issue as its used to control Idle Air. meaning at WOT its not used.

Adds complication with zero benefit, if anything a solenoid failure creates your worse case scenario.

Thanks for the replies. I am not using the alky to make more power, just using it for a little extra safety against detonation. But I dont want to lose power either. Tuning is a little harder with this car because I cant pull fuel out with the chip like on my GN.

I moved my nozzles to the bottom of my intercooler pipe and the car was seemed more detonation resistant. And it was hidden.
