Well I have only had my 87for a month or s now. aI have noticed on a couple occasions that if I mash the gas from a dead stop while in OD the trans acts like it kicks out of gear. If I roll into it first then mash it, it runs well and shifts well. Normal driving the car shifts and drives will for having a stall and a very firm shift kit. I have read through the problems with tv cables and servos but this seems odd to me. any ideas?

when you 'mash the gas from a dead stop', you should have it in D not OD. Try that and report back.
