My buddy has an 02 explorer sport. His interior light stays on and the door ajar light is on. All the doors are shut....the tail is shut. I dont see a switch.

Probably one of the door switches. My old boss had a F250 that had the same problem. You might be able to hook a scantool up and see if it says which switch is causeing the problem.

try lubing all the latches real good ,i have seen it where the switch in the latch just sticks.Wd-40- liquid wrench what ever you prefer...

the switch on fords is built into the lock mechanism in the door.....the switch just snaps and twists in,but still a PITA........it needs to be replaced.after the doors are closed(key on engine off),push/pull on each one (not the handle but the door itself)untill you find the culprit......

I went through this with my gf's 02 Exploder, the wires are broken inside the rubber tube by the hinges. Take off the driver side door panel off and make the necessary repair.

I tried the WD40 trick. First sprayed it down with brake cleaner then WD40. Started to slam the doors and tail gate a few times. No luck. Guess I will have to look in the door.

You have to go into the body control module screen on the scanner. It maybe labeled GEM on some scanners. It is not a DTC. This screen will tell you which door adjar switch is open. Scan with all the doors closed. The switch is located in the latch assembly inside the door.
