So i finally get around to removing my seized up stock turbo and ummm WTF!!!!!!!! I had to use the fire wrench to heat all the bolts to get them off oh boy was i in for a suprise.....The bolt on the impeller wheel came off and ground up the intake side...The shaft snapped and the exhaust wheel came off and bypassed the stock elbow and went down the downpipe and is currently residing in one of my mufflers:eek::eek::eek::mad:

I bolted on my te63 and houston 3 in stainless downpipe that has a borla style race muffler and flange welded on the end on an otherwise stock drivetrain ...Talk about a pita to install the downpipe:mad::mad:
Once i finally got it bolted on it was like 3 inches to short to bolt to my exhaust so i left it open for the moment lol...(i just wanted to meet up with the power tour peeps and it was 3 am lol)....Heres pics...

That's not pretty. Did you find the nut?

Woah....

I think I'd be more concerned for all the little shards of aluminium... pretty sure you'll find the nut in the intercooler....

Nope never found the nut took the intercooler off there was like about 1/4 qt of oil in the intercooler and the same in the stock downpipe and exhaust initially so im hoping its stuck in the intake housing on the old turbo somwhere although it moves freely now..

I cleaned the intercooler with castrol superclean and then brake cleaner then blew compressed air threw it and never got a nut just metal shards.... No metal in the up pipe just a lil oil... you can see the spiral the exhaust wheel made in the stock downpipe!!!

better drop the pan, pull the oil filter, and start cleaning. Theres probably alot of metal down the turbo oil drain.

Missing compressor wheel nut?

Check your MAF sensor very carefully to see if it might have trapped the nut in the screen or the heating element area.

It could have passed right through the MAF screens on decel, so also check your K&N filter as well.
No sense in having it come loose and taking out your replacement turbo.
Also for the heck of it, look inside the valve cover vent tube in the inlet bell. If you were using the factory style breather with hose connecting the turbo to the valve cover, pop the valve cover off and look on the top of the head for the missing nut. Anything is possible.

I changed the oil and i removed the stock pipe to valve cover setup nothing there...Ill check the filter and the maf when i get back home...

Wow that looks like a mess. I'm sure I'll get flamed about it, but I would think decel compressor surge could have caused this... BOV might help.
