oil clearance on the mains

i have .002 oil clearance on the main bearings, is this sufficent?

.0020 or .0029? ;)

If you're running .0018 to .0025 I would say yes. On the tighter side for a street car and on the looser side for a race car.
 
just talked to my engine builder this morning and he gave me the same advice as above.
 
SO I would assume if your engine is built with .002 thou on the mains and rods useing 20 50 race oil is a bit thick for proper lubrication...opinions

That's fine in my book. I like 20W50 valvoline race oil because the roller valve trane sounds quieter with it. My mains are at .0018

10W30 would be OK too but it's special order, where as everybody stocks the 20W50.
