oil leak

ok I just bought a grand national and there is a slight oil leak
I knew the owner well and he told me alot came from the factory with a rear main seal oil leak and thats what this one had

how much work is it too fix the rear main seal and what parts/gaskets are the best and has anyone done this before?
he had told me people who tried fixing it were good for a week and then it went back to normal?

what can I do its annoying the hell out of me and I dont want that for my car?
