I have a pretty bad oil leak that appears to be coming from above the oil filter.. Is that the location of the oil pump? Is it common that it would leak? how hard is it to replace if that is indeed the problem? Can I replace it from under the car? Hate to take off all the parts I just put back on the motor

Thanks! Bill

Check the oil pressure sender block. Just up and to the right of the oil filter housing. Brass block. with a switch and 3 wires coming out of it.

The oil pump is behind the oil filter housing and requires the removal of the front cover.

If you have problems locating the leak, get under there engine cold and clean everything off with some carb cleaner. Wipe clean as best as you can.
Start car and let it warm up. Shut down, crawl back under there and see if you can trace it.

Thanks! It looks like its coming from tha switch..Is that possible? There is no oil above it..Just all over it and below it. I remember years ao my father had a leak coming right out of his oil light switch. Just figuring this might be the same sort of deal.
Thanks! Bill
