3 .38 special all spooled up Joined Oct 11, 2002 Dec 28, 2002 #2 well either way, it would be rediculous not to replace the rear main if you have the oil pan off. And you have to take off the oil pan to get to the rear main seal. So replace them both.

3 .38 special all spooled up Joined Oct 11, 2002 Dec 28, 2002 #3 oh -- and it isn't that difficult after the pan is off. I did it without jacking up my motor, but it would probably be easier if you did jack it up.
