New engine , light came on after 5 miles of driving .
I have 40 lb oil pressure
What could case this

Aftermarket oil pressure gauge? You stock oil light is prolly unhooked

Was good the first 5 mi. I have aftermarket oil pressure T'ed in light is pluged in seams OK

Everytime I see a problem and it's followed with the term 'new engine' or 'fresh rebuild' I cringe.....

If you're reading 40 pounds on an aftermarket gauge and the idiot light is one, one of them is lying to you. The light is supposed to come on at 4PSI.

I would err on the side of caution. cut open the oil filter and then decide if you need to drop the pan. Another easy thing to check is a magnetic oil drain plug if you have one of those.

IT made me cringe
Ill cut the filter apart and check the wiring and sending unit soon (we just started 12 hr shift and I have 1 hr drive each way)
with three wires I was sure it did more than oil pressure .Read it turns on fuel pump but I dont see that in my book
Thank for your Tim
