I know I'm not the first nor will I be the last to have an oil leak. But, I have one...somewhere. I cleaned up everything pretty good last night, put in some oil dye, and drove the car to work today. Checked it out just now and the leaks seem to be coming from underneath the oil pan rail supports. The back of the valve covers are dry, so is the intake, and the rear main seal. The only traces of oil are those running down the sides of the pan from the underside of the pan rail. Nothing above the pan to block interface. Weird! Is it leaking throught the bolt holes? Is the pan rail cracked? Is it a bad gasket? Anyone seen anything like this before? The bolts are torqued properly. Figured I'd just drop the pan and put in a new gasket smeared with a thin coat of silicon on each side, put it back on and let it sit for day to cure.
Never dropped the pan before (although others have when the car has been in the shop). Hope it comes out easy without having to jack the motor.
