My hot idle pressure dropped about 10 psi after initial start up as compared to before the head gasket change. This is reading from a Autometer Phantom gauge. It is about 15 psi at Idle after driving it around for 30-45 minutes. Oil is 10w-30 Mobile 1 with a bottle of ZDDP added. 6 quarts total. Mobile 1 filter as well fwiw... Cold its about 25-30 idle 60 when revved hot is about 15 idle and about 50 when revving. It responds when revved normally. What I am wondering is could a improved ground lower the readings...
I also noticed through my Turbolink program the ecm is reading 13.5 or so volts now before it was always low about 12.7 or so... I know the gauge uses a variable resistance to ground to indicate pressure on the gauge and that a increase in resistance = and increased in reading. So if the gauge ground was weak the resistance from the sender + the resistance to ground might cuase a higher than actual reading.
So based on that I feel my reading is now more accurate and has been lower than I though prior to the engine R&R... Everything sounds and seems fine too btw. Just checking my thinking and wondering if anyone else has ran into this.
Thanks
