Oil Pressure

What are some of the members oil pressure readings (hot) on a 3.8 motor? I have seen some engines 20psi hot and some even down around 10 psi. Once the car temp cools down oil pressure increases. Are stand-alone oil coolers beneficial or is this a sign of bottom end wear ????

20 psi hot. But I use 20-50 oil. This is at idle.

Oil pressure readings below 20 psi hot means the engine needs bearings refreshed?

pop vc's off and make sure top of engine is getting oil... that was an indication to me that 15lbs hot was too little...

standard oil pressure hot is uaually 7-12 psi at idle. You should get 10 psi increase per 1000 rpm. These engines are not known for their high oil pressure like an sbc. Make sure it is steady and rises as noted above. Hope this helps.

10-15 psi is normal at idle when hot using 10-40w with stock pump.

I had 15-18psi hot idle with 10/40. I put on the RJC Biggie adapter and an external oil cooler and I now have 23-25 hot idle. These 2 items should help out.

I get 32-35 hot idle in gear.
HV oil pump/front cover, 15w-40
(1 gal Rotella + 1 quart MM oil.)
