I have two front covers. One is a high-volume front cover and one is stock. I need to replace the oil pumps on both. Do I have to buy the oil pump from a Buick vendor or is it something I can get at a local parts store? Any particular brand I should avoid or one that someone recommends? Thanks. :)

You can probably buy a stock one from a parts house. The taller pump will have to come from a vendor. Why do they have to be replaced though?

The stock front cover is a friend's. He spun a rod bearing in his motor, so there was some metal in the oil.

What does the oil pump consist of? Does it include the gears or is it just the housing with the spring and end plate?
