Since installing GN1s, my car is using a quart of oil every 500 miles. Checked turbo, so its not that and it wasn't using any oil before swap. I'm going to do a leak down test as soon as I can borrow the equipment. Any ideas?

oil use/heads

I'd check the valve guides, a friend of mine is on his third GM 502 crate motor first was consuming oil big time, the second one actually siezed. The third was having same oil consumption problem so he took it to a local machine shop and found bad guides, they installed new ones and no more oil burning. Hope this helps some.

If the leak down looks good I'd lean to guides as well. Make sure and check the valve seals and make sure they haven't blown up the valve. This can be an idication of excess guide clearance or sometimes they just plain don't stay on.

If you want to go to the trouble, while you're doing the leak down pull a valve spring or two and see how much guide play you can feel. It should be almost imperceptible. Not very scientific, I know, but it's the best you can do with the heads still on. :)
