Gonna change my engine oil tomorrow what do u guys recommend? I was gonna buy a synthetic oil (mobile 1 or something like that) what do u think? Also I bought a new coil pack and want to install it but the firing order is reversed from the one on the sticker on the shroud. Can I still use it? Thanks everyone

Use any oil you want to as long as you change it often. The coil pak can be used. It does not matter.

I use 5w-40 full synthetic. Everybody will have a different opinion. Use what you are comfortable with.

i've wound up with Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-30 since it's easy to find and cheap.. it's available at Wal Mart in 5 quart jugs for $24 or so. i've also run Rotella synthetic without any problems.

Rotella 15w40. And ohm the coil pack before u install it
Looking for 11-13 ohms

I have been using Mobil 1 full synthetic for about 9 years now, the last 7 with ZDDP Plus. Been thinking about changing back to regular oil after reading some past threads stating that using synthetic oil with a flat tappet cam will result in cam lobe failure. It has to do with the lifters not being able to rotate in its own bore properly because the oil is to slippery. It was also stated that synthetic oil would run off the cylinder walls and bearings with in a couple of days resulting in a dry start, were as regular oil would cling onto the surfaces. I started using synthetic oil because I wanted to protect my investment, I am not sure if I made the right desision. What do you experts think.

I think your answer is right there in that sentence. ;) ' Keep the oil clean' and you will be fine!

The 532nd post on "What type of oil is best"
I know search is good - but I sorta wish there was a library for these sorts of commonly asked questions.
Or at least a sticky,
But like all stickys - we'd probably have 100 of them all over the place.

and someone would still start a thread "What's The Best Oil For My Car"?

I don't really mind all the threads on oil or anything else. I don't HAVE
to open the thread! sometimes the people are new to the site and just asking an honest question. Why not try to help them out?
