I finally fixed my torque converter lockup problem...but now I have a possible other problem. I hooked up a toggle switch and ran a ground and then ran a wire and spliced it into the top left ALDL connector wire. This toggle is supposed to toggle manual lockup of the tcc. Well I flipped the switch to ON from a complete stop and turbolink didn't show it locked up. I also tried locking in 2nd gear and turbolink didn't show tcc lockup on...

when you manually lockup the converter...does the computer know it??? will turbolink show me? and how do i really know if the converter is locking up? turbolink shows it locks up at 55 mph exactly but i don't feel it...so what is going on?

T-link only knows what the ECM is commanding, It has no idea what your switch is doing.

ok that's what i thought...cool

but then i have another questions....i can actually feel the 1-2...2-3...and 3-4 shifts very noticeably...but when i get up to 55 mph the rpms are at 1925 rpm and i feel no drop in rpms like i used to back in the day...it felt like i had another gear shifting when the converter locked up...or is my converter locking up to softly that i don't notice it? when i cruise at 60 mph my rpms are exactly 2000...is this about right when the converter is locked?

i know that turbolink is showing me that the ecm is commanding lockup at 55 mph...but is it REALLY locking? when i brake the TCC lockup shows OFF....so i think everything is working ok?

also when i am racing...should i flip the TCC switch ON after i do my burnout in 1st gear? i have never raced with the converter locked before...

TCC lokup?

If the converter clutch is working, when U turn the sw. to lock it and the car is stopped, the engine should stall. [IE: let the clutch out on a manual trans w/ the brakes on and the engine dies.. same principle]
If U lock the converter after a burnout and B4 the launch, the engine will do what I've described above. If this is a stock converter, don't expect the clutch disc to last long..

My story and I'm outta here!:D :D

first of all my car does not die when i flip that switch on from a complete stop...and second i have read lots of people saying to lock up the converter right after you do your burnout and before you stage because the converter won't lockup until 2nd gear because it doesn't lock up in R or 1st gear anyways....

TCC ??

Guess you answered your own ?'s..
I think the reason the converter doesn't lock in 1 or rev just might be that the ECM does not command such operation. You have bypassed the ECM w/ your switch...
