Ive been running 100% alky since the beginning, and the fact that a tank of alcohol was sitting right in front of my turbo really scared me. Is this the main reason they recommend a 50/50 mix? So it doesnt blow up? I was running with 100% right next to the turbo for 6 months. Ever hear of any cars burning up?
I ended up machining a little bracket that mounts the old style tank to the frame behind the pass. side headlight. It mounts it in the area that the new kits get mounted, but no zip ties used here. Bracket basically uses a big groove that fits around the frame, with a big locking screw cut to a fine point at the tip, which screws into, and grabs onto the frame. All I have to do to pull the tank off is loosen 1 socket head cap screw with an allen wrench. Ive been running it like this for a few months and the tank hasnt budged.
If anyone is interested, I can find my damn USB cable that was lost for 6 months and now I think is lost again
, and I can post up some pics to show what I did, for you guys with the older kits, who are worried about the tank blowing up.
I also designed and machined an EGR cap a few months ago with a really cool turbo and turbo 6 design that Ill throw up some pics of.
