How do you know if they are "original" headlights, and what significance do they have?

My hot air car has the original ones but one has a crack. My
GN has the original ones too. I'm trying to keep both of these
bone stock and original (or if needed original replacement parts)
including GoodYear Eagle GT's and original exhaust. Some show
car classes deduct points if the headlights don't match.

bye, Ed

cant you just get all 4 new?

i was told they wont deduct for parts that arent avaliable anymore such as the battery with the white sides and the black ac delco oil filter.

are you going to be in the concours class at the nats?

There really wasn't a "original" headlamp per say. Its not like the 60's where everything used "T3"s. Around the mid 80's GM used everything and everybody for parts including sealed beams. Now on my 86 GN with the H4 option all of the sealed beams are Guide(GMs light bulb division for a lack of a better description) and I believe the halogens say "power" or something in the middle. If you where to order a replacement from GM in 1986 or 87 it would have been a crap shoot if you got a Guide. Most likely it would have been a GE,Phillips or Sylvania. I guess if you are looking at a numbers correct type of thing go with the Guides.
