Just got new motor together, broke in, when I pull the rpm's up over 5800 it surges, stutters, cuts in and out sorta. As soon as I shift it, It starts pulling hard again. Does this sound like valve springs? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

combo: eagle steel crank, all steel main caps, 20 over diamond pistons, 9.2 to 1 compression, comp 214/214 roller cam, 112 center line, 165 roller rockers, gn1 champion aluminum heads fully race ported, percision front mount, 72 lb. injectors, max effort tw, hemco bonnet, pte 70 gtq tsm turbo.

have you checked your valve lash?

Particularly if your GN1's are new, the valves tend to tighten up until the heads are "seasoned" a bit.........I ASSume you are running 150 lb or better springs with your roller?

bad v-6,

With the cam you have there isn't really any need to turn 6000 RPM as the power band doesn't go that high. I would suspect that the actual power band doesn't extend past 5700 RPM. Back to your question, I would suspect a lean condition based on what you state. Do you have a scan tool?

actually Neal, my car with a 214/210 pulls very hard to 6100 (and prolly further)...shifting sooner costs a few .1's.....(not the combo in my sig...GN1's, 70GTQ, 83's, FAST, etc...)
