over rev?

my new transmission shifts quickly and firmly and i am pretty pleased w/it so far, BUT, yesterday i came out of my neighborhood in D and put it to the floor and it acted like it didnt want to get out of 1st. it seemed to be taking forever to reach redline and just kept revving and holding 1st. i dont have a tach in the car yet and am kinda wary about taking it to the top of the revs b/c i know these engines arent exaclty rev machines. on the other hand my neighbor said he used to think his car was screaming until they put it on the dyno and what he thought was redline was actually much less. i dont want to break my car so i was wondering if a tranny problem could cause the car to orevrev and what should i look for when investigating this problem?

Have you adjusted your TV cable? That's the first thing that comes to mind for me, and perhaps the easiest to check.

Just a warning, if you do play with the TV cable, you will have to reset your TPS.

the ball on the end of he TV cable is right on the metal thing attached o the throttle. it is a few tabs out and i think its at the GM recommended setting. i didnt know about the TPS thing tho, thanks for telling me that

No problem man, anything to help. The only reason I know about the TPS is because we played with my friend's TV cable and his car wasn't responding right until we reset the TPS. Looked it up and lo and behold it screws with it Good luck on getting it setup right.
