Anyone mod up one of these behemoths? I think it would the balls to go on import/fwd day kick some butt with a titanic American car. Just a dream, if I win the lottery:D
 
go ahead. mod it, its 4,000lb car. But if it has the L67( series 2 supercharged), you can make power.
my father just got a 2003 ultra, the thing isnt as slow as i expected. the airbox is actually very good out of the factory, all u need is a drop in filter and ur good to go.
i suggest getting a mild cam, ported manifolds, smaller pulley, and tuning work.
i dont think headers would work b.c of how its setup. unless u can get a custom downpipe to bolt up and match ur exhaust.scan you car to see if u have any KR, and go with colder plugs if u do.

this setup will make u good power to kill some of those imports.

i have a set of ported manifolds for sale if your interested.

i dunno, u may not agree, but i love the eagle GA tires.
if u can get 235 instead of the stock 225, thats a plus, they r wider. i get great traction with these tires. u should pull out 1.9 and 2.0 60fts.

why not get the regal GS???
its much more aftermarket for them, and the SLp tips for dual exhaust look sweet with the spoiler.
mine does 12.7's at 106mph. they are 500lbs lighter than the ulra.

but my dads ultra looks so hot with the port holes and bigger rims and huge grill, its way more luxurious, so it all depends what u like.
the ultra is also 20 grand more.
 
A quick scan of the ads for 1998-2000s comes up with a price about 11k to 14k depending on miles and what dealerships. Buick dealers want a premium for them. Best I saw was at a Mitsu dealer.
 
ooh those ultras suck. the hot ones are 2003-2004
the ones that are 98-2000 dont even have the dual exhaust and the better options etc...
ur better off buyin g a 2002 regal GS for even less than that
 
mine is a 99 and has dual exhaust
it has all the options that the newer ones have
the only difference is the 99 has a better looking gauge cluster, firmer seats, and firmer suspension

the 2003+ have minor appearance upgrades like aluminum doorsills, grille, portholes...the suspension also softer...they have a tad less engine sound, whereas my 99 has a deep bellow exhaust sound in the cabin

we didnt buy it for the intent to race it, its just good and broken in and i said hell, why not

i have michelin mxv4 plus on the car now for the smooth quiet ride
i'm always rushed to the track and never get to prep or work on the launch

i'll have plenty of time when i go in november to get the car right...times should come down considerably
