People who have had their engines built..... COME IN!!

I'm in the process of putting a hi 10 sec GN engine in a 68 camaro. My question to you guys are how much would the average engine build up cost with TRW pistions, 218/218, and all of the other goodies minius the turbo... injectors... and heads cost?? I'm going to buy a TE64 or a 70 turbo and some 75 injectors off of the board and buy some USED GN1's for around a grand. Would you say that I should be able to get a good engine built minus those items for 4 grand?? This guy in my area is prob one of the best engine builders around and eventhough hes pretty expensive I'm pretty sure i'm going to go with him especially since he specializes in turbo engines and has a 7 second turbo-6cyl car ....so tell me what you guys think!!

Where are you located? Who has a 7 sec. gn? You should be able to build that motor and the parts you listed for about 3-4K.
I have all the parts you listed for the short block and I built mine for around 3K.

I paid $2500 for my shortblock 109 block, J&E Pistions, Isky Cam, 2 center steel caps, balanced, blueprinted.

I have a set of GN1 heads that are going on the motor (I have ~$1100 into them total)

My 70 turbo cost $900

My 75# injectors cost $300

Robert Stanely has a black 77 Cutglass with GN decals on it... it looks almost just like a Grand National. It ran a 7 something (2nd fastest on the list!) I'm located in Greensboro NC and so is his shop. Hes one of the best around when it comes to turbo engines... nice guy too.

Maybe when your done you can send me some pics of the mounts and stuff . I was planning on doing a 67 camaro witha GN engine &trans.

sure thing.... I'll take pics with the digital camera as the project progresses.. A few people have been suggested to me such as Cal Hartline and Jack Cotton to build the engine..... any other suggestions as far as people who do quality engine work espeically on turbo buicks!!!
