Recently replaced the gas tank in my car with a Spectra unit and it fit great and of course my original Sending unit decided to go out a month after the new tank install so I picked up a new Spectra (Part # FG156A) sending unit at auto zone.

IMO the fit and finish is great. Getting from AZ saved me 80 bucks.

The fuel pick up sock that comes with the sender is a way better design than the one that racetronix sells with their kit. This one really has good reinforcement to keep shape

Damn, I wish I handn't reused my stock sender now. Stocker was in OK shape, but for that price I would have picked this up if I'd have known it was a good reproduction. Just for peace-of-mind and whatnot.

Also, Rockauto.com has it for $96 ($15 cheaper than AZ) and considering they're always sending me 10% or 15% off coupons, that's a bargain.

I bought this same sender from rockauto.com earlier this year and you are right even with shipping charges it was cheaper than buying it from autozone.

Is the fuel sending unit the same for the analog dash as for the digital dash?

Rock auto has some good prices for sure.

AZ has a rewards program that after 5 purchases of 20 bucks or more you get 20 dollars credit toward anything they sell and is the reason I got it from AZ. Couple a oil changes, belts and plugs, car detail products, etc will get you to your 20 bucks quick. Hey you own a buick you will be at the parts store alot...LOL

It was $104.85 out the door and I had it the next day by noon

Yes, I would like to know as well. I was considering this one as well but when I checked out the AC Delcos on NOS4GN, they have an analog and digital version?

Thanx for posting this as I am in need of another sender. I wonder how well one of these fits an original turbo Buick gas tank?

Thats a great looking sending unit... I also see a late night of cards and BK in the morning to cure the hangover.;)

Sending unit for a digital dash is different. I got a delphi unit through napa special order. If i remember correctly it was around $250, this was about 3 years ago.

I bought the Spectra tank and sending unit also, this was about 2 years or so ago when they first offered them. I got the tank from RA, of course the price was right and shipping was like $11 and got it the next day? I assume they had it drop shipped from a local depot VERY near me. They did not carry the sending unit yet. The only place I could find the sending unit was JCWhitney. With a promo discount and free shipping it was a great deal. BUT I found that the white plastic piece of the level unit stuck out way to far and was an issue trying to install it into the tank with the Walbro on it. I had to shave off a little of the white plastic with a razor knife to get the assembly into the tank. I am not sure if the tank opening is the same size as stock, I had chucked the old tank and could not recheck that. I may have just got an early run sending unit and maybe someone could chime back in and let me know how the fit of the sending unit going into the tank is.

Popped it in today....... gotta love the lift at the auto hobby shop on base!!!

It is a little tight around the sending unit but will go in without getting gorilla or cutting it. Havent topped off the tank yet but its reading correct so far with the gas that was in it.

One thing I noticed was that the pick up sock that comes with teh sending unit WILL NOT work with the walbro the inlet cavity/pocket on the sock that goes on the pump is too small. Too bad since its a way superior desing IMO to the ones that came with the walbro i picked up from Racetronix

Are you kidding??? The sock with the Spectra sender is a Chinese-made 70-micron Nylon mesh sock. The one we supply is a US-design 30-micron graded-media sock. This is light-years ahead of the one that comes with the Spectra sender. If you use the Spectra sock on a Walbro gearotor pump it is far more likely to pickup junk and fail.

My point is The internal reinforcement to keep it from collapsing is waaay superior with the Spectra one.

It will keep it oblong and straight around the pump inlet better where as yours goes flat with the slightest pressure and bends real easy and does pop back to shape very good like the spectra is all im saying.

Yours is a higher micron then you have a leg up in that area. Yours went back into service since the one that came with it wouldnt fit as I mentioned.

If you could get that better reinforcment in yours that would be the bombdiggity.

High micron wins of course

The graded-media sock has a plastic spine inside to prevent it from collapsing around its inlet. The sock must conform the the environment slightly otherwise the media itself will be crushed and cease to function properly. In most cases firmer is better but not here. ;)
