V6 without air. You could put an after market heater under the dash.

do those work very well compared to stock? what do they run? ive seen it done with the whole a/c box so i figured a non a/c would add some room. what did you do on yours so the drip panel goes all the way across with the box out? thanks!

I have no heat at all in my car. The street rod crowd use them all the time. Kind of a universal deal. No big ugly box hanging off the firewall. It's all in a box inside the car under the dash. The drip pan on mine is a custom made piece made by me. I think i've seen heat only units for around $300.00

i can get a non ac box for 150.00. my last drag car had nothing but it got stolen before i could see if it was a big deal. it not the cold so much that bothers me. its just needing defrost. how did you make that? do you have problems with fogging up on yours? i want to drive it alot but im sure my constant worry will only have it out a nice days. i am putting the wipers back on just incase. lol i guess it comes down to how big of a problem is it to not have heat at all. it will not have a/c not matter what. lol

I don't drive the car much on the street anymore. Defrost would be nice to have at times though. The drip tray I made from several pieces of metal bent, hammer formed and welded together and then welded to the car. I wish i had picsw of it as i made it but i don't. There is one being made that is a bolt on piece. I think it's sold by TR Custom Parts.

thats a nice piece for 59.00! do you know the name of the in dash heaters? i might have to pull out the dash. the car was spotless 78,000 car. he rattle canned the whole interior black. doesnt look good. if i have to pull the dash. then ether way of heat would be accessable. lol

thanks! i wonder how well they work or how hard they are to install. lol ill try to find some pics of them in the cars. thanks!

can you post pics of it in your car? does it work good as defrost? thats my main concern. thanks!

I think they offer a duct kit with it also.

It definitely makes plenty of heat, no question about it. I never bothered to make defrost ducts since it made so much heat as it was. I have some old pics of it mounted, but they are difficult to see, since it's jammed up under the dash. It's only 4 bolts that hold it to the firewall, and there is some adjustment available too with the brackets...

lets see the pics. what all sticks out from the firewall? i see i uses the heater hoses. i wonder if it would work the way it is for the windshield. did you use it a whole lot? did the windows fog over? thanks!

that looks great! it looks like the heater hoses would be right there through the plate but in the other pic. it looks like you routed them across the fan motor. did the windows fog over when you had the hea on? do you have to wory about fires at all? what about it melting anything around it at all? thanks!

Nah, the only reason I looped them over the heater is because of the way I mounted it. The hoses needed to make an abrupt turn after passing thru the firewall, so instead of kinking them, I just looped them around under the dash.
It only gets as hot as the coolant temps... so no issues with "excessive" heat.
I ran a 160 T-stat and it worked fine.
The windows never fogged.

I didn't drive the car in rain or crappy weather... but when it was cold & dry, the heat sure was nice to have.

thats awsome. what about the heater hoses getting hot enough to melt any of he plastic inside? i have heard of people beating on their cars and having a heater core explode. i dont know how true this is. lol ive seen pleanty of hoses go. would there be any worry with this unit? it a hose let go. your swimming. lolthis is a ton of good info. thank you!
