and for some hi resolution pics:

From a previous message I posted asking advice on a tires and rims. This is the setup I got.

Centerline Convo Pro's

15x8.5 for the rear with 3-3/8" Backspace
15x7 for the front with 3-3/8" Backspace

For the front tires, 235/60/15 radials
For the front tires, 275/60/15 Nitto drag radials

For the rear tires, the car previously has had M/T ET Streets on a rim with unknown backspace. I think its a 15x8 rim. The tires were 28x11.5. They fit fine but would rub some on the outside when making slow turns and on launches.

Well, I think the 275/60's Nittos are taller than the 28x11.5 M/T ET Streets and they don't rub at all.

Before I put the new tires and rims on, the car has had new springs from Kirbans, dual air bags, and new shocks put on. The old springs were shot (maybe stock?) and the new springs definitely lifted the car up a little. I think I have 10 lbs or so in the airbags which helped too.

I don't think tire rub will be an issue. Hope this helps anybody out there looking at some new tire/rim combo's.

I think the car looks pretty darn good now too. I temporarily had old beatup stock rims on it for the last couple months. I'll spare putting up the before pics.

I am looking for an old pic but i had that setup w/ BFG Comps 275/60/15 and my old Muscrat GT 225/60/ 15's up front. The rears rubbed alot but the car had a real aggressive stance.

I agree !

I really like the look of the Convo series of wheels, but I'm a little deterred by thought of keeping them polished and cleaned.

Have you had any particlar problems cleaning/polishing inside all the little nooks & crannies? Are you doing it strictly by hand, or using some kind of mini- die grinder with polishing felt/bob?

No problems yet......... Although, I just got the wheels friday. ;)

Hey murph,
Where in Jersey are you located? I'm near Ocean City.

Nick,

I'm in Long Branch, a little north of 195 near Red Bank.

Englishtown is opening this weekend for test and tune, but it looks like I'll be out of town. :(

Thanks for the compliments guys. Anyone else got some pics with Convo Pros? Could be the Convo Pro thread....

Anyways, I fell in love with the Convo Pro's after looking at an old copy of GMHTP from November 2001. Had a white Turbo T with Convo Pro's and was exactly the look I was going for. It was the article subtitle "Under a thousand miles-a quarter at a time". I'm glad I saw the article, as my previous first choice were Auto Drags.

(edit: Louis- seen your pictures before too, also a good inspiration)

Murphster,

If you had a black 87 grill and painted white bumpers, our cars would be identical twins. At least on the outside. Under hood is probably a different story. I am biased on the wheels since I have Convo pros on both my white T-Types.

I'm sure there are at least a half dozen ways to repolish these wheels, but I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish. It's work to do them, but what isn't?

I don't think we have to worry about being mistaken for each other at the track though since we are about 3000 miles apart.

Great looking T! What kinda space do you have in the back from tire to frame with that backspace? IMO i would just add a 87 grill and rear spoiler to finish off that T ., Wheels look great!

Do you polish strictly by hand? or have you found any tool that makes it easier to polish in the convolution grooves? (eg, mini die grinder).

Did any of you guys ever consider the "Convo ET" wheel?

They don't seem as "common" as the ConvoPro. I'm partly drawn to the ConvoET, for that reason (the other being, the wheel center is polished instead of satin). They do look a bit "busier" looking than the ConvoPro, though.

The Convo ET is a fairly new wheel. Its only been out maybe 2-3 months. Summit just recently added them to the catalog. Its a cool looking wheel so in time youll see a bunch of them time like the regular convo.

Louie- whats your exact tire and wheel combo now-what sizes? what backspacing? I love the way your car looks with those convos!

Fronts are 215/70 on 15x4 Convo pros
the rears are 28x10.5 MT slicks on a 15x10 Convo with 5 in BS.

You should see the rims now i had them fully polished, so the centers are polshed also.;) :D
