I've read numerous posts on the matter and the consensus seems to be that on TR's, a pinion snubber is bad for racing. Period.

My question is: Does it EVER help? Or, is it ALWAYS bad?

The reason that I'm asking, is that the best '60 that I have ever done, was a 1.66. Though this might have been due to a timer error, I have had '60's of 1.76, 1.75, 1.71, and 1.70 on my last two track outings. Nothing to write home about, but not too bad for a stock GN on a seldomly treated track. ;)

My rear suspension is stock, except for airbags on both sides and a pinion snubber. Runs were made on 26 X 10 MT ET Drags mounted and screwed to 15 X 8 Centerline rims.

This past Saturday I had a best '60 of 1.71. I then removed the snubber, to see if it would help my '60. Well I did a 1.85, a 1.87 and the best I could do after that was a 1.77 (a new best ET/MPH though).

So, does the snubber help the '60, but hurt the overall ET by unloading the tires after the 60 ft mark? Or can my differences in '60's be attributable to an inconsistent launch technique? :D

Aloha, and TIA!

gotta be the loose nut behind the wheel. Ever thought about that. Hmm maybe not enough o-soto, or maybe too much seyonage....;) in any rate.....inconsistent launch technique....Yup, i'd buy that.:D

Loose Nut?!? That reply + $5.00 will buy me a mocha latte at Starbuck's. :D

We'll see if the boxed lowers will help any.....:)

And by the way... What the heck is Grande, Venti, and the other size? Why not just do the small, medium, large thing. Anyhoots, gotta go sleep now. Gotta wake up at 10:30ish to go to work:o :o :( . Stop by with one of those latte things. Laters, loose nut....HA!

Well I'll have to agree that REMOVING the pinion snubber has helped with the consistency of my '60! Must have been poor driving on previous runs. :o :D

My suspension is stock, with the exception of air bags on both sides. Runs were made on 26 X 10 MT ET Drags, mounted on 15 X 8 Centerline Auto Drag Rims.

The '60 times of my last two track outings are as follows:

1.70, 1.71, 1.70, 1.68, 1.69, and 1.68.

Bottom Line: NO MORE PINION SNUBBER FOR ME!!! :D

Never Snub A Pinion--It's Just Not Nice!

Who are we to be snubbing a pinion, anyway?

Thanks! :) I've been using the "KEVINS" method on launching. :D I try to leave with at least 10 lbs of boost at the line. Any lower seems to be somewhat of a wasted run. I also race against the clock (for now anyway). and not against the other driver. Would you rather say that you beat some Honda, or would you rather say that you did an 11 sec run? :)

Now if I can only figure out that IC, percentage of rise, and that other stuff......:o :D

EXACTLY!
I'm either lined up against some tow truck or a 10 sec race car so what's the point except for getting this boat in the 11's...
I almost went last week but got too busy with stuff so never made it..
