pinion snubber needed or not?

some say it is definatly needed while others say you don't want to limit travel. opinions please.

I am interested to see what some guys say.

I had traction problems in my t, I think I can attribute it to the fact the the pinion snubber was almost resting on the rear. I shortened it quite a bit. We'll see the outcome if the weather ever straightens up.
