PITCH DARK at 6:00 freakin o clock!!

I hate winter....and its only going to get worse. At least it doesn't snow here.

Tell me about it. By the time I get home from work, its dark. Kinda kills the motivation to work on the car. And it snows here too, you lucky bastards. On the bright side, it gets me more motivated to work out and exercise at the gym. Not very fun though. I hate winter. Natural gas prices here are supposed to almost double, so theres something else to look forward to. Did I mention I hate winter?

Already snowed here.. not much, but it's only going to get worse.

As for darkness, it was pitch black around 5pm, but that's also because we have a lot of cloud cover, most of the time. In the darkest part of winter, it will be dark by 3:30 and sun won't come back up until around 8:00. Whacky place!!

I thought daylight savings time was originally set up for the farmers so they could get their work done but I don't see the point in doing this anymore. Nothing like working all day and coming home in the dark. Wish they would change the law to keep it the same all year. Takes me at least a week to get used to the change sleep wise.

Daylight savings time has nothing to do with farmers. They don't work by a clock. They get up before sunrise and pack things up at sunset. It doesn't matter what time it is to them, its all about when the sun is up.

BTW, I hate it. Now when I get off work its dark. No washing the car, mowing the lawn etc after work now. I have to do it all on the weekends.

So why do we do it then?? Kids at the school bus stops, so they aren't in the dark?? What is the purpose? I know some states don't even do it.

the only two states that do not do daylight savings time are Indiana and Arizona...there's only 3 counties in Indiana that DO do daylight savings time and it's the northwest most 3 and I live in one of them! the rest of indiana doesn't ever change...so basically i can drive 30 minutes east of where i am now and they are an hour ahead of me...

it gets pitch black dark at around 4:15 during december through february

I thought it was started in WWII as a way of conserving energy? Longer day light meant less electricity used. May be another myth. If that is the case, seems that we should do without it now, excecpt for Cali, they should stay on it indefinitely. Hell, give 'em another hour!

Wow, the dark just requires some extra halogen lamps. Just gonna have to use false light to work on the '66 Nova. Cold, well it's gonna be in the 60's by the end of the week. Winter does suck. Next ya know, we will have to put up with rain too. lol. Mark

I'm supposed to pull an engine tonight (its raining!!) this should be interesting - rain and dark a great combo
