Hope someone can help me...just bought a 85 gn it was not running and had the front timing cover off. I replaced the following:Timing belt,o2 sensor, knock sensor, fuelpump, spark pack, new wires, new plugs,. Okay here is what it does ...it starts and idles fine it, is just a dog, no power when I give it throttle it just lays down ....also the manifolds on this will glow cherry red when under a load. The scan tool gives a code that the spark timining sensor is bad ...but I repalced the spark knock sensor and no change same code same problem...please help.. also the previous owner had a adjustable wastegate on this ...should I put the stock one back on? Does anyone have a diagram for the vacum lines on this car as the previous owner was a real gem and has all kinds of the hacked and plugged... tonyalester@earthlink.net

Sounds like you may have a plugged up exhaust, is there catalytic converter on there now? If so it may be clogged up.

Vacuum lines go like this on hot air,

Vacuum block has six ports,
FRONT FAR LEFT PORT goes to PVC Valve with a tee to the wasgate solenoid plumb back Vent.
MIDDLE FRONT PORT of vac block goes to Charcoal canister
RIGHT FRONT PORT goes to the big port on the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid.

LEFT REAR port is Plugged off if you have hydra-boost Brakes, if you have vacuum power brakes then it goes to it.

MIDDLE REAR PORT goes to lower wastegate actuator port as a (" part throtle open waste gate") to improve off boost fuel economy by reducing exhasust back pressure

RIGHT REAR PORT goes to HVAC CRUISE VACUUM CANSITER AND THERE IS A CHECK VALVE THERE

Pressure port on compressor side of turbocharger feeds the top port on the wastegate actuator through a restrictor oraffice and also tee off into the wastegate solenoid port.

Manifold VAC/pressure tap on the rear of the intake manifold feeds the fuel pressure regulator and boost gauge sensor, a 2 stage (YELLOW/ORANGE switch if you have digital dash or map sensor if you have bar graph boost guage of the analog dash.

GOOD LUCK

hey for the answers to your vacuum lines

look at the top of the threads
where it says ~>>>>>>>>>> Sticky "Basic Hotair Info! "

theres lots n lots of useful info in that Sticky Thread

maybe your car is not boosting?
do u even have an aftermarket boost guage to see if the car is boosting? you may not be getting boost , as a result of the vacuum and boost lines being messed up

those stock boost lights on the dash are pretty much useless

also........ when you replaced the Knock sensor
did you reset the ecm by disconnecting the orange fusible link that comes off the postive battery terminal?

the code will usually stay stored in the ecm untill it is reset
maybe thats why its still reading a code?

also..........
if your new to turbo buicks, i would definately use the stocker wastegate, until you get some knowledge on these cars, you definately wanna be safe. too much boost and you will blow your headgaskets , and you dont want that !!!!!!

get your car fine tuned stock, before you even think about addding preformance parts

have replaced crankshaft sensor already and have double checked timing it is alright what do you mean wiring wrong?

Properly setting the cam sensor is a lilltle tricky. You have to follow the directions carefully to get it right. There are diretions in the gnttype.org site. That could be your problem. Put a vacuum gauge on the engine idleing. You should get 25 inches of water. If it is real low that means the exhuast is pluged.

If there's a problem in the ESC circuit, timing will be retarded. Other than that it's fixed by the chip. At the base 10 degrees the headers will glow slightly at idle and will be bright yellow under even low boost.

yup, glowing headers are from not enough spark advance.

i'd bet your cam sensor needs reset.
