Just wondering if anyone has bought a plain old regal and made a GN or T-Type clone including the turbo/engine. What is the difference in engine config. Will it pass smog?

What I was thinking is that a Regular old Regal should be lower to insure and will cost me 1000-1500 to pick one up (86-87). I am 23 and have a bad driving record from owning a couple fast
F-Bodies at a younger age.

What snags would I expect to run into?

What does a used 3800 Turbo engine go for?

Kevin...

maybe what you need is a GN clone with a regular 6 cyclinder... I see by your signature a few of your rides have gone to CAR HEAVEN... RIP!!!

To clone a GN properly, you probably need a donor car or a complete drive train with wiring & computer. Besides the motor, TRs come with beefier tranny, rear end and suspension!! I'm contemplating on putting my other motor into my 81 Malibu.

I'm sure insurance will be cheaper but after you put $$$$$$$ into it, do you want to be $ out of it... if something happens
