My car has a fresh v6 in it total rebuilt I ran it for about 10 mins yesterday but a something was clacking so I shut it off and let it cool and today I started it ran perfect for about about 4 mins was at about 1700 rpm and all of a sudden it started to bog and cough and it shut off so I restarted it have to stay on gas to keep it running smoking black and just turned it off then. so then I stoped and walked away for a half hour and came back won't even start now just puts out smoke what would it be I have a translator pro and extenders pro computer I do not know if that has something to do with it please help me out I checked cam sensor that was right to

First, I would check the vacuum line and the plug on map sensor.

With key on engine off, what does mp and ut read on the tpro?

The Translator Pro has a screen on it for reading various parameters, two of those being mp and ut. Turn the ignition to ON, but don't crank the engine. Then go to the translator pro and report the readings here.

The MAP sensor is located on the left passenger side fender. It will have a vacuum line running to it and a wiring connection. Make sure both are secure and that there is no leak in the vac line.

For a location of sensors:

86-87 Turbo 3.8 Liter Engine Sensors

Familiarize yourself with the gnttype.org website....Lots of very good technical writeups and troubleshooting tips.

Just curious, when you say fresh v6 is this the very first time its been run or was it run on a stand prior to install? Who built it? There's a couple of really excellent Buick engine builders in NJ, and only those would I trust a Buick build to.

The ut is 0.0 and the mp is 101.7 and the map sensor vac line is o. It but the plug is not connected never was even when I got the car I had a little mx up with vac lines but the car Ran for a while b4 this happen so could it be that by the way first time ruing was In car it was built by one of my dads good friends who owns his own machine shop and he has done these motors b4

Anymore ideas I been trying to figure it out all night no luck I m going to check the fuses next

Plug the map sensor in.

With key on engine off mp should read 98-99.

At idle the mp should be in the upper 30's lower 40's

The trpo has to get the right signal from the map sensor in order to run.

The map plug on the sensor it self is there but I can not find the plug that would go To it

Hmm, thats odd. I wonder if there is another map sensor somewhere else?

If you try and start the car, does the mp# move on the tpro?

The number should go down not up.

Where is the vacuum line from the map sensor going too?

Disconect the orange wire by the battery and pull the chip from the ecm. What number is on it?

It goes to a t spilter one end o the spliter is the map sensor the next gose to the box on top of intake (2nd from back) last goes thought the fire wall into car and what chip to I pull it's in the ECM on passenger side kick panel

Yes, the ecm in the pass. kick panel. Pull the big chip out and get the number.

Don't forget to unplg the orange wire by the battery first.
