Well, have you heard the saying “if it wasn’t for bad luck you wouldn’t have any luck at all”. I think that speaks volumes for Shane. If you have not heard, Shane started having trouble breathing about half way to Denver. Once we got here he was having a lot of trouble breathing. Once we arrived at Craig hospital, it was not long before we were transferred over to the Swedish Hospital right next door. Shane is back in the ICU. They done some tests on him and ended up putting in another chest tube on his left side to get rid of some fluid that had accumulated there. They said he had some fluid on his right side but not enough to warrant a chest tube. They have also started him on some antibiotics too to prevent any infections. They are keeping him comfortable and finally found him a fan. He is resting somewhat comfortably right now. I talked to the nurse and told her about the medicine they used last night and she called the Dr. and he ordered the same. So hopefully it works ok. I will include the address and stuff when I figure out what it is. I will update again in the morning. Continue the thoughts and prayers. BigBro

A Happy 2009 to all! Just a quick update! I know it has been forever since I have made an update, for that I apologize! The good news is Shane is doing great and will be coming home Wednesday the 7th of January!!!!!!!! Mom and I will be heading out to Denver in a few hours to meet up with Shane and Shelah and finalize everything for his dismissal from Craig Hospital and get everything ready and loaded for his trip back home. Shane has satisfactory completed and learned everything that is required of him to take care of himself and to be independent! I know he is definitely excited to be coming home. Except for the carpet that is getting installed as I write this update, all modifications to mom and dads house are complete. Shane will be staying at mom and dads house short term until we all get Shane’s long term housing solutions all figured out. I have a feeling this process will proceed a little faster once Shane is back home and can more easily be involved. I have been asked many times about a coming home party or something like that, we will definitely come up with something within the first week or two. I know there are definitely a lot of people that want to see Shane! Once we get Shane home and settled, and figure it out, we will let everyone know what the plans are via this website. It has definitely been a long and hard road for Shane since his accident, and his family would like to thank everyone who has sent the many thoughts and prayers his way! We all know they helped! Thank you everyone!! I will be updating more in the next day or two. God bless everyone!
