Plug wire "protectors"

I just bought a new set of wires and one got a little taste of the dp. What could I use to protect them from frying?

If you go to your local bone yard, you can find them off of 2.8 camaros (thats what I did)

What Kind of wires do you have? I have Accel 8.8 and they have never melted even after touching the DP. They jusy discolored a little bit.
